The project started in 2010 with first bursaries being awarded in 2011. It targets Grade 10- 11 Maths and Science learners and is done in a debate format whereby learners are given a theme to research on. Each team is comprised of three speakers, i.e. 1st speaker doing introduction, 2nd speaker covering content and 3rd speaker responsible for conclusion. It runs from district to national level with bursaries awarded for the provincial winners. Since its inception more than 100 bursaries have been awarded. The project

Objectives

  1. To increase advocacy on water use efficiency, proper sanitation and sanitary processes and sustainable integrated water resource management.

  2. To broaden the exposure of learners to key issues relating to water use efficiency.

  3. To use the high school environment as a scouting ground to secure consistent exposure and intake of school going youth to be active and responsible citizens that will be driven by Water Literacy initiatives.

  4. To encourage learners to pursue water and sanitation careers.
